Covid-19 Disaster

The Covid-19 pandemic has devastated the world’s economy and torn apart the financial foundations of millions of American citizens.

What has our government done to help Americans?

Not much. Yes, Congress has passed enormous spending bills, in the Trillions of dollars. Super-fantastic deals to extend unemployment, allow payments to self-employed & gig workers, plans for “forgivable” small business loans.

Well, as of April 17, well over a month into this disaster, on a tiny, tiny fraction of that money has reached any of the common people of this country.

However, major corporate interests, such as national restaurant chains, have managed to get multiple $10,000,000 loans. Why? Basically, it comes down to connections. Small businesses don’t have personal bankers & full-time accounting staffs that deal with lines of credit & loans every day. The companies that got loans were the “big guys” who already have loans and access to funds from banks & investors. In other words, most of that “small biz rescue fund” went to larger companies who are far from desperate for more money.

Of course, that leaves the true “small businesses” out in the cold. Here, we’re referring to small companies that don’t have large staffs of lawyers & accountants, and aren’t close golfing buddies with banking executives.

Nope, the little guys & gals of Small Business are right where they’ve always been.. at every level from local to national, they’ve been abandoned & screwed over by their government.
